Plant parsley or basil with your roses and never see an aphid again!
Companion planting stops the need for chemical
spraying, the ladybirds will sort out the rest.
If you do have to spray use an ECO Pest Oil. There is a wide range of eco solutions at your local garden or hardware store.
Add
mulch or pebbles to your garden beds to dramatically reduce weeds, retain water
and improve the overall look of the garden.
It’s amazing how a bit of mulch can change the whole appearance of a garden.
Check out your local Landscape Supply to see what’s on offer. Most
Councils supply recycled mulch at a reduced price.
Do you have windows that get the hot afternoon sun?
Plant a tree to shade the sun. It will reduce temperatures inside, and reduce
your electricity bill.
In the winter
when the leaves have fallen, giving you instant mulch, it will let the sun shine in
to warm your home.
Use a tap timer.
Prices start at just $9.00 for a manual 2 hour timer, just turn it on
and forget.
Tap timers are now available for water tanks.
You can also receive a government rebate on timers.

Use the back of envelopes from your mail for ~
writing your shopping list,
‘to do’ list,
a note to the kids,
maybe a love note to your partner!
Say
NO to Junk Mail.
This simple act saves
trees, water and energy.
Who knows it might help your bank balance too!
Take a bottle of water with you when going out rather than buying one.
Your reusing a plastic bottle, saving money on buying water, and stopping another bottle going to landfill.
Save paper and ink by using the 'Print Preview' option available on most software packages. You can pick up on any mistakes before it hits the printer.

Park in the shade.
It will stop the amount of fuel lost to evaporation, and keep the inside of your car cooler. Less airconditioning, means less CO2 emmissions.
Hang your laundry on the line.
Sunlight is nature's disinfectant and it's free.
Keep a bottle of cold water in the fridge. Saves running the tap waiting for the cold water to come through on hot days.
Pay your bills online.
Almost all bills can be paid online or at the Post Office. Saves you the cost of a stamp, and saves the planet from another envelope being used and freighted to it's destination.

Before turning on the airconditioner, turn on a fan first.
Ceiling and portable fans can reduce the temperature in a room by up to 10 degrees, and they use 90% less energy than an airconditioner.
